The designer for the new headquarters for AOL wanted a material made to their exact color specification, that would glow warmly and be a durable statement in the expanse of the entry. In addition, the letters of the AOL logo - as well as some defining phrases - needed to be presented in a seamless integral maner. The coffee bar in custom LightBlocks required a material that could be heat formed to exact tolerances for a smooth installation.
For the entry walls in the signature orange, we matched AOL's specific Pantone color in a thickness suitable for cold forming. The lettering from the graphic files was engraved into the LightBlocks panels, then pigmented with an additional infill color. The curved panels were then mounted on standoffs to allow the light from behind to reflect through. All of the panels have our signature matte surface and resin coat.
In addition, all of the LightBlocks panels were shipped fully fabricated and ready for installation to avoid any on-site waste. |
